Once they give us the go ahead we book a convenient date and day for your installation and Order your Solar equipment.
It takes 1 day to install the system, unless you have chosen to install a larger system and on completion that day provide a handover manual and a small amount of training from our Electrician.

Frequently Asked Questions about Solar
Q. How does Solar work?
It’s pretty simple really, solar panels are mounted on your roof and an inverter is installed so the system works with your home power use, the grid or batterys.
You use the solar power that is generated in your home during the day and any not used is sent to the grid or to a battery for use later.
Q. What size Solar System can I have?
This depends on several things.
- Available space for panels on your roof, ground or elsewhere.
- Good orientation and the availability and capacity of the grid determined by the supplier.
- Your power requirements during the day need to be considered as well.
If you call Sanctuary Solar we can have a look at your property and your details on our satellite software and discuss all the available options with you.
Q. How do I decide what brand of Solar System to use?
Sanctuary Solar can help you with that. We rely on our experience with the equipment we have used over many years. We also take a close look at what other experts are saying about various solar equipment pros and cons and collate that into our advice to you.
Constantly reviewing equipment and reviews about solar equipment and what products are the best and most importantly what products are not the best to use, typically experience and time in the market tell us what systems and equipment are the best to use and what technical and warranty support is best from each supplier.
Q. Who installs my Solar panels & system?
A Clean Energy Council (CEC) installer must install your Solar System. Sanctuary Solar is a CEC Approved Solar Installer with over 20 years combined experience in the Solar Industry.
See other info.
Q. Can I increase the size of my system after I install it?
This depends on available space on your roof and the size of the inverter you install. If you have enough usable roof space and the inverter you install is capable if adding more Solar panels you can increase the size of your system. This can be decided when you install your original system and added inverter capacity can be allowed for to add panels pater when it more affordable or your requirements change.
Alternatively, you can add a second system and it can run concurrently with your existing system. We would need to check with the Grid supplier and your energy retailer to see if this is viable for you.
Please call Sanctuary Solar for further information.
Q. Does your Solar system still work during a blackout?
The short answer is NO.
A solar system connected to the grid will shut off during a blackout. This is for safety reasons to prevent injury to SES and electricity repair workers. However, with a battery system it is possible to provide backup power.
Q. Can I check how my Solar System is performing?
If you want to check your solar system most inverters have a built in LCD/LED display that provides information about your system, live and historical power generation or if it has an issue or fault.
This is also available from apps that can connect to a wi-fi ready inverter.
Q. How do I find out how much I pay for my electricity?
If we have a look at your electricity bill per month or quarter we can determine what you are paying for general use, off peak, your service fee and what Feed in Tariff is available from the various Electricity retailers.
Alternatively, you can upload you bill or email it to us for a look and we can advise you.
Q. How long does a typical installation take?
A Typical installation for a 6.6kW solar power system is 1 day or 6-8 hours. The larger the system, the longer it may take to install.
Other factors include how many storeys your home is, is it tile or colourbond roof, how steep is the roof. This can be determined once we have all the information.
Q. How long is the wait between booking and installation?
After you approve our quote, your grid application is lodged with Essential Energy or the owner of the Grid in your state. On average this takes about 1 week.
We then book the installation with you and your system is installed typically within 4 weeks from start to finish.
Q. How much roof space is required?
The amount of roof space required depends on the size of the system. For example, a small 1.5kW system requires 12m² of roof space. This is ideally an un-shaded and north-facing part of the roof. The system is modular and can be arranged in a way that best suits the roof.
Q. How much do I save changing to Solar Power?
Installing a solar power generation system on your property can save you money on your electricity bills.
How much you can save depends on your usage, the Energy retailers rates and the feed in tariff your receive for your excess solar exported to the grid. This can be looked at as a return on investment.
If you invest $5000 in a Solar Power System and save $2000 per year then you are receiving a gross return on your initial investment of approx 40% versus 0.5% in a Bank savings account. That is an outstanding return on your money from any investment.
If you finance the system the savings can pay the loan repayments instead of the Electricity provider and in just a 2-3 years. Then you own it, and you can enjoy the return on your investment and use that extra money around your home or for holidays and lifestyle.
Q. How do I get finance for my Solar Power system?
Simple, we can handle that for you.
We work out what system you require and advise our finance company to contact you and complete the application. This can take only 24 hours for approval after your application and we can move forward straight after that interest rates and terms are competitive
